Iran to participate in seven events of Asian Youth Games

TEHRAN, May 31 (MNA) -- Iran will participate in the First Asian Youth Games in seven out of ten events, stated the deputy chairman of the Physical Education Organization (PEO).

“Iran is not going to take part in bowling, sailing and beach volleyball in the games,” Kyumars Hashemi added.

The First Asian Youth Games will be held in Singapore from June 29 to July 7 in 10 events namely, athletics, football, sailing, bowling, beach volleyball, swimming, diving, table tennis, FIBA 33 and shooting.

The Singapore Asian Youth Games 2009 will gather an estimated 1000 athletes aged between 14 and 17 from 45 countries.

The arrangement of the Asian Youth Games is part of Singapore’s bid to stage the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics.
