Iranian literati to visit India

TEHRAN, May 30 (MNA) -- A group of Iranian poets and cultural figures will visit India next week to take part in several literary events commemorating the late Imam Khomeini.

The group includes Mohammad-Ali Bahmani, Abdoljabbar Kakaii, Seyyed Abolqasem Hosseini, Mojtaba Rahmandust, and Seyyed Abbas Sajjadi.


They will first participate in a seminar on Imam Khomeini and contemporary Persian literature, slated to be held by the Research Center for Persian Literature of the Iranian Cultural Attaché Office in New Delhi on June 2.


The group, along with a number of Urdu Hindi poets, will discuss the mysticism of Imam Khomeini and contemporary Persian literature during another seminar on June 4.


The Department of Persian at the University of Delhi will also host the group for the Seminar on Persian Contemporary Literature on June 5.


The group is to visit the tomb of the Iranian poet and scholar of the Safavid era, Hazin Lahiji (1692-1766), in Varanasi during their brief sojourn in India.


The group’s visit will be sponsored by the Institute for the Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini’s Works.


June 4 marks the 20th death anniversary of Imam Khomeini, the Founder of the Islamic Republic.
