“Duel” director joins Mousavi’s camp in presidential election

TEHRAN, May 30 (MNA) -- Ahamdreza Darvish, director of the blockbuster “Duel”, has joined the cineastes producing campaign films for a reformist candidate in the forthcoming Iranian presidential election, Mir-Hosseim Mousavi.

The film will be released if the election goes to a second runoff.

Mainly known for his features on the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, Darvish directed a campaign film for Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf during the previous presidential election in 2005.

Mousavi’s main campaign film has been directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Majid Majidi. This film was aired on IRIB Channel 1 last night.

Two other campaign films for Mousavi are currently being produced by Reza Mirkarimi and Daiush Mehrjuii.

In addition, Seifollah Daad, Alireza Raisian, and Mohammad-Ali Hossein-Nejad have teamed up for another production, which will promote Mousavi’s camp.

Mehdi Karampur has also been assigned to make some music videos for Mousavi.

President Mahmud Ahmadinejad’s campaign film made by his art advisor Javad Shamaqdari was broadcast on Friday night.

Behruz Afkhami and Mohammad-Ali Farsi are also making campaign films for two other candidates, namely Mehdi Karroubi and Mohsen Rezaii.
