Vingada parts company with Persepolis

TEHRAN, May 29 (MNA) -- Nelo Vingade bade farewell to Persepolis following the team’s elimination from the Asian Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday.

Persepolis lost to Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor 1-0 in front of about 100,000 fans at the Azadi Stadium and was excluded from the competitions.

Speaking at the post-match news conference, the Portuguese said, “I understand the Persepolis’ fans at the moment, but I have to say our rival did a better performance against us and I congratulate them.

I made effort during the last four months in Persepolis; nonetheless, I tell you it is my fault if the team failed to advance to the next stage,” former Jordan coach added.

The 55-year old coach, who had penned a 17-month contract, was appointed as Persepolis football coach in February.
