Leader advises candidates not to delight enemies

TEHRAN, May 24 (MNA) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei advised the presidential candidates not to go to the extremes and say something in their campaigns that would “delight the enemies”.

“The enemies of Iran and Iranians do not welcome taking pride in Islam and Islamic values. Thus, all officials including election candidates should be alert not to utter words which delight the enemies,” he said in a meeting with the families of martyrs of the Sacred Defense (1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war).

Ayatollah Khamenei praised the role of martyrs in the history of the Islamic Revolution, saying, “The Iranian nation is indebted to the martyrs and the families of martyrs forever.”

“The firm beliefs, strong determination, altruism, and self-sacrifice of the families of martyrs have made the bases of the Islamic system so firm that no tornado is ever able to disturb this great foundation,” he emphasized.
