TEHRAN, May 24 (MNA) – The Iranian drama “No One Knows about the Persian Cats” shared the Special Prize in the Un Certain Regard category with “Father of My Children” from France at the 2009 Cannes film festival.

Director Bahman Qobadi’s “Persian Cats”, which explores the underground music scene in Tehran, shared the prize with Mia Hansen-Love’s drama, a painful record of the suicide of an indie producer.

The Greek film “Dogtooth” by Yorgos Lanthimos was awarded the top prize in the Un Certain Regard category.

The Jury Prize of the category went to the Romanian movie “Police, Adjective” directed by Corneliu Porumboiu.

Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino, actress Julie Gayet, Toronto International Film Festival Director Piers Handling, and journalists Uma Da Cunha and Marit Kapla were on the jury in the Un Certain Regard category.

The 62nd Cannes Film Festival was held from May 13 to 24.
