TEHRAN, May 22 (MNA) – Michael Moore wants to screen Iran's “About Elly” at the fim festival in his home town in the U.S. state of Michigan.

Moore, who is the founder of the Traverse City Film Festival, has asked director Asgahr Farhadi for permission to screen his movie “About Elly” at the 5th edition of the event, which will run from July 28 to August 2.

“About Elly” recently won the top prize at the Tribeca Film Festival which was held in April in Manhattan. It also captured a Silver Bear for director Farhadi at the 59th Berlin film festival in February.

The award-winning movie will be heading to several other festivals including the Seattle Film Festival, opening May 23, and Romania’s Transylvania International Film Festival, opening in late May. It will also go on screen at the Sydney Film Festival in June.

“About Elly” tells the story of middle class Iranians whose trip to the Caspian Sea turns into a tragedy as they try to uphold their social customs.

Shahab Hosseini, Golshifteh Farahani, Taraneh Alidusti, Merila Zarei, and Mani Haqiqi are the stars of the cast.
