Improving security very important for consolidating ties with Iraq

TEHRAN, May 20 (MNA) -- Iranian Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Saeed Jalili emphasized here on Wednesday that Tehran and Baghdad has a high potential for expanding bilateral relations.

“The advancement and development of the two countries are tied together and its materialization requires a joint effort,” he said in a meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.

Jalili pointed out that promoting security in Iraq is highly important for strengthening ties. “The continuation of the presence of the terrorists in Iraq… is unacceptable to the Iranian and Iraqi nations.”

Zebari, for his part, expressed satisfaction over the current level of relations and said Iraq is willing to use Iran’s experience in establishing peace and security in the war-torn country.
