Water Polo World League special experience for Iran

TEHRAN, May 19 (MNA) -- Playing against powerhouse water polo teams such as Australia and New Zealand would be a special experience for Iran, Neven Kovacevic said.

Iran’s water polo team will leave Tehran on Wednesday to take part in the Asia-Oceania Round of the 2009 FINA Water Polo World League.

“Iranian players are well-prepared for the prestigious competition. The world’s best teams will participate in the event and it’s a good opportunity for us to advance by playing against them,” Iran’s water polo coach said.

“Iran will take part in the event with a combination of experienced and young players. Hopefully, we will reach our targets,” he added.

The first round will be held in Australia’s Adelaide Aquatic Centre with teams from Japan, New Zealand and Iran taking part from May 22 to 25.

The second leg will be staged in Auckland, New Zealand, the following weekend.
