TEHRAN, May 19 (MNA) -- The author of bestselling novel “Da” announced that she will choose the director and the main actors for the film adaptation of the novel.

“Although I have granted permission for film production to the Art Bureau, I will choose the director and main characters for the film which will be made according to the book,” author Seyyedeh Zahra Hosseini mentioned.

After reading it, many directors believe that this book is a ready-made film script and can be easily adopted for a movie or a TV series, but the director has not been specified yet, she added in a press conference at the Yazd’s Art Bureau on Monday.

It is better to tell the truth about the Iran-Iraq war to the younger generation, since it is a part of history and future generations should be aware of it, she said.

“The book contains undeniable facts about the war and features many accurate narratives of events of that time. I think that it is my duty to record this great event and the resistance and sacrifice of the people so that they remain in Iran’s history,” she added.

The book, written by Azam Hosseini, contains recollections by Zahra Hosseini of the time when the Iraqi army captured Khorramshahr in the early days of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war. It is a true-life story of a teenager who experienced the early days of the war in Khorramshahr.

The book, released by Sureh-Mehr publications, is one of the publisher’s bestsellers. In the dialect of Khorramshahr “da” means “mother.”
