Iran has attained self-sufficiency in scientific fields

TEHRAN, May 17 (MNA) -- The Expediency Council Chairman, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, said on Saturday that Iran has reached self-sufficiency in scientific fields, particularly in medicine.

In a meeting with the participants in the twelfth annual conference of Iran’s urology association, Rafsanjani said since the Islamic revolution in 1979 Iran started paying serious heeds to science and the results are emerging now.

A considerable increase in the number of scientific essays published in global publications is an indication of scientific advancement in all spheres in the country, he said.

Rafsanjani added that scientific breakthroughs will transform Iran into the most developed country in the region.

Doctor Mohammad-Ali Zargar, who chaired the conference, and Doctor Gholamreza Pourmand, a prominent scientific figure, briefed Rafsanjani on the objectives of the conference.
