Khorramshahr to host Resistance Theater Festival

TEHRAN, May 17 (MNA) -- Iran’s Resistance Theater Festival is slated to open on May 18 in Khorramshahr, Khuzestan province.

This edition of the festival will be held in Khorramshahr’s newly-established theaters, mentioned director of the Center for Dramatic Arts Hossein Parsaii in a press released on Saturday.

The celebrated actor Ali Nasirian, theater scholar Mohammadreza Khaki and stage director Mohammad Jamalpur are the members of the jury of the gala, he added.

“We will assign a budget to the selected plays of the gala for public performance in their respective cities,” he mentioned.

He went on to say that the center planned to hold this edition of the festival internationally. Many countries, including Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq’s Kurdistan, Britain, and Palestine, have submitted their works to the secretariat of the gala.

“Due to the weak substance of the submitted plays, we prefer to hold this edition nationwide and plan to hold the next edition with increased international advertising,” he added.

The festival is held annually on May 24 to celebrate the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr during the Sacred Defense (1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war).

This edition of the festival will run until May 22.
