Iran heading for Asian Judo Championships

TEHRAN, May 17 (MNA) -- Iran’s national judo team is going to leave Tehran on Tuesday to take part in the 2009 Asian Judo Championships which will be held in Taipei on May 23rd and 24th.

Iran will participate in the tournament with 12 judokas. The team will be headed by newly-appointed coach Mahmoud Miran who has recently replaced Arash Miresmaeili.
 
The previous edition was held in Jeju City, South Korea, and Iran came in third behind Japan and South Korea.

Asian Judo Championships organized by the Judo Union of Asia is an annual event.
