TEHRAN, May 17 (MNA) – “Next Iranian president should offer women a position in the cabinet,” Zahra Rahnavard, the wife of presidential contender Mir-Hossein Mousavi said recently, calling it the lowest demand of Iranian women.

Speaking at a press conference in Shiraz, Fars Province, Rahnavard laid stress on the presence of women ministers in the cabinet of next Iranian government.

Asked whether she would be one of the ministers in Mousavi’s cabinet, she said, “I have never had a position in the cabinet … and I’m not wont to be a minister in Mousavi’s cabinet; if he wins [the June 12] presidential election.”

Referring to a great number of problems women are dealing with such as social, economic, occupational, and educational ones, Rahnavard said, “Women’s challenges in our society are not few.”

She expressed hope that all probable obstacles in the way of next president trying to meet women’s demands would be removed.
