TSE absorbs over $95m in foreign capital in 4 years

TEHRAN, May 16 (MNA) – An official of the Securities and Exchange Organization of Iran here on Saturday stated that foreign entities have had more than 950 billion rials (about $95.6 million) worth of transactions at the Tehran Stock Exchange during March 2005 to March 2009.

Ayoub Baqer-Tabar added that in the last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2009), some 325 billion rials (about $32.6 million) worth of dealings were made by foreign investors in the TSE that is remarkable considering the global economic crisis, the Mehr News Agency reported.


He said the amount of foreign investment at the TSE would increase through removing some limitations.


TSE opened in February 1967. During its first year of activity, only six companies were listed in TSE, but it has evolved into an exciting and growing marketplace where individual and corporate investors trade over 420 companies.
