Iran-U.S. relationship would benefit Arab world: journalist

DEAD SEA, Jordan, May 16 (MNA) – Rami Khouri, the chief editor of the Lebanese newspaper Daily Star has said that a diplomatic relationship between Iran and the U.S. will be a win-win-win game.

In other words the relations will benefit the U.S., Iran and the Arab and Islamic world, Khouri told the Mehr News Agency correspondent in Amman.

He dismissed a view that Tehran-Washington ties will not be in the interests of Arabs, saying relations will yield positive results for the Middle East.

However, he said direct talks will help settle tension between the two countries.

Khouri said that the Middle East is facing a “triangle of three major problems”: Iran-U.S. standoff, Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and divisions among the Arab states. He added all these problems should be resolved altogether.

He also argued that Arabs’ concerns over Iran’s nuclear program rest upon the view that if Iran becomes more powerful, it will interfere in their internal affairs.
