10th Intl. Radio Festival of Iran to host programs from 40 countries

TEHRAN, May 13 (MNA) -- The 10th International Radio Festival of Iran will be hosting programs from 40 countries, said the secretary Masud Ahmadi in the press conference held on Tuesday.

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) will also be collaborating in this program like in the previous editions, Ahmadi said, adding, “We are also hosting the 2nd International Radio Forum with the collaboration of Allameh Tabatabaii University, the University of Tehran, Imam Sadeq (AS) University, and Azad Islamic University,” he added.

 

“The festival will begin on May 18 and will continue the next day. This year, over 900 works were submitted to the secretariat and the final entries were selected by the jury members,” he remarked.

 

 

Iran’s “Be Calm” finds way to Shanghai filmfest

 

TEHRAN -- Ramtin Lavafipur’s “Be Calm and Count to Seven” will be screened in the Asian New Talent Award section of the 12th Shanghai International Film Festival, which runs from June 14 to 19.

 

The film received awards at the Fribourg and Roma Independent festivals in March.

 

The film narrates the tale of a youth named Motu, who is a member of a gang of youths who retrieve contraband from the sea.  Meanwhile, Motu’s father has disappeared while transporting illegal human cargo and the smugglers’ middleman contends with a toothache and tense telephone calls from his wife in Tehran.

 

 

Cineastes to visit Khorramshahr on anniversary of liberation

 

TEHRAN -- A group of cinematic figures will be visiting Khorramshahr on May 24 to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the liberation of the city.

 

They will also be visiting the martyrs’ families and the war veterans of the region, Iran House of Cinema Managing Director Mohammad-Mehdi Asgarpur said.

 

Mohammadreza Sharafeddin, Habib Ahmadzadeh, and Mohammad Davudi are currently in the city to follow up the case.

 

A port city in Khuzestan Province in southwestern Iran, Khorramshahr was captured by Iraqi forces in the early days of 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war and was liberated on May 24, 1982.
