Iran to participate in Asian Youth Para Games

TEHRAN, May 13 (MNA) -- Iran will take part in the TOKYO 2009 Asian Youth Para Games with 59 participants, Ghafur Karegari said.

“We will participate in the games in six events. For the first time, 12 Iranian women will take part in the international competitions,” the deputy of the Sports Federation for the Disabled added.

“We want to have a good performance in the 2012 London Paralympic Games and it is a good opportunity to find new talented athletes for the upcoming events,” he concluded. 

The Asian Youth Para Games will see 700 young athletes aged between 14 and 18 years old compete in six sports, namely athletics, swimming, goalball, table tennis, boccia and wheelchair tennis. The competitions will be held in Tokyo from September 8 to 13.
