MP Broujerdi meets Yemeni deputy FM

TEHRAN, May 12 (MNA) – The Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Chairman Alaedin Borujerdi here on Tuesday conferred with Yemeni Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Muthana Hassan.

Broujerdi said that Tehran attaches great importance to the relations with Islamic and Arab countries, particularly Yemen.

 

He added that regular talks between parliamentary groups and political officials will help serve bilateral ties.

 

The lawmaker also pointed to the presence of foreign forces in the region under the pretext of providing security, saying regional countries themselves should shoulder this responsibility.

 

Referring to the recent happenings in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the top lawmaker urged the Islamic countries to strengthen their ties to weather any threats against their national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 

He went on to say that the West’s disinformation campaign over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program is only intended to keep Islamic countries underdeveloped.

 

The Yemeni official, for his part, said his country is keen to expand ties with Tehran in political, economic and cultural spheres.

 

Pointing to Iran’s influence in the region, he called for an expansion of amicable ties between all of the Islamic nations.

 

He went on to say that Iran and other Islamic nations have legal right to use nuclear energy for civilian uses.

 

The official also called the Iranian Majlis speaker’s upcoming visit to Yemen a milepost in the development of relations between the two countries.
