Rare copy of Quran on display at TIBF

TEHRAN, May 12 (MNA) -- A rare copy of a printed version of the Quran is on display at the 22nd Tehran International Book Fair.

Researcher Mahmud Najafi Shushtari collects rare copies of the Quran, which date back to the 10th century and are inscribed and illustrated by famous authors and painters, from various libraries and museums in Iran.


The copy on display was published in Germany in 2002 and is being displayed for the first time.



“Old Men Don’t Die” to compete in Hamburg filmfest


TEHRAN -- The short film “Old Men Don’t Die” found its way to the 25th Hamburg International Short Film Festival running from June 2 to 8.


Directed by Reza Jamali, the short film is produced by the Ardebil Department of the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS).


The 11-minute film narrates the story of the villagers who are tired of their long life and old age. Some fifty years have elapsed and no one has died in this village, so the old men now decide to go after death themselves.



“Eternal Battles” atlas on sale at TIBF


TEHRAN -- The atlas of “Eternal Battles” featuring unique photos of Iran’s Sacred Defense is offered at Tehran’s book fair.


The book contains complete information on the operations conducted by the Iranian armed forces during the eight years of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.


Military experts and commanders of the war have provided great assistance in compiling the book, which has been published by Nodid Publications.



Imam Khomeini’s Sahifeh now available for Arabic speakers


TEHRAN -- The Arabic version of Imam Khomeini’s Sahifeh was introduced at Tehran’s book fair on Monday.


The cultural deputy of the Institute for the Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini’s Works (ICPIMW) Hojjatoleslam Mohammadreza Heshmati said the book was frequently requested by the Arab nations.


The collection contains speeches and writings of Imam Khomeini and depicts the Imam’s ideology. The book already had been published in English.
