Tehran is developing rapidly: Istanbul mayor

THERNA, May 12 (MNA) – Visiting Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas said on Tuesday that Tehran is developing quickly to change into a modern city and great strides are being made in this regard.

Tehran has seen significant progress in its green space, transportation system to its reconstruction projects so far, Topbas said during a visit to Tehran Traffic Control Center.

 

He added that mayors and municipalities can not manage cities without cooperation of their citizens.

 

Topbas also thanked Tehran mayor for his great efforts, saying the most important factor in managing a city is controlling its traffic.

 

He called the subway the most convenient and quickest means of public transportation in cities.

 

The Turkish official also referred to Tehran Bus Rapid System (BRT), saying Istanbul is already having this system underway.

 

The Tehran municipality deputy director for transportation and traffic, Jafar Tashakori Hashemi, also said Topbas can prepare the ground for more cooperation between the metropolises of Tehran and Istanbul.

 

Hashemi added that Tehran-Istanbul municipalities can share their experiences to help develop their cities.

 

He expressed hope that bilateral relations between these two mega-cities will expand in the near future.
