Tehran, Istanbul mayors meet

TEHRAN, May 11 (MNA) – Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf conferred with Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas who is here upon an official invitation.

During a press conference following their talks, Qalibaf expressed hope that Topbas’s visit will promote bilateral investment and cooperation between the two metropolises.


Qalibaf said there is considerable commonality between Tehran and Istanbul and that closer cooperation will benefit their citizens.


The cities’ mayors can also share their experiences in different areas, he added.


Topbas, for his part, said if the mayors expand their cooperation, they can better resolve citizens’ problems and promote their welfare.


He hoped to solidify his relationship with Qalibaf, saying, “I believe that our cooperation with Tehran Municipality will bring more benefits to the citizens of the two cities.”


Tehran-Istanbul municipalities can stimulate common investments in the future, he predicted.


He announced that a technical committee from Istanbul Municipality will visit Tehran to hold consultations with experts from Tehran municipality.
