Karroubi says would interact with all countries except Israel

TEHRAN, May 10 (MNA) -- Presidential hopeful Mahdi Karroubi stated on Sunday that he will try to establish relations with all countries except Israel.

“I will interact with the entire globe except Israel,” he said in a meeting with students in Ilam, western Iran.

Karroubi also added he will devote a portion of the oil and gas revenues to the provinces which suffered damages during Iraq’s war against Iran.

Elsewhere, he noted all parties welcome a change in the current conditions.

“Currently, all political parties in the country demand a change in the current conditions and this amount of yearning for a change in the Islamic Republic is unprecedented,” he said.

Karroubi added, “The most important motto in my administration will be changing the current conditions in the country. This change requires a support from the people and those who demand for a change should take part in the election.”

He also noted, “If I do not win the election, I will make efforts for the glory of people.”

Elsewhere, the former Majlis Speaker pointed, “Basij and Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps should not be a tool in the election and the election should be held liberally.”

Mousavi urges a return to Imam Khomeini’s outlook

Presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi emphasized that the only solution to the current problems is a return to Imam Khomeini’s “outlook”.

“Today, if we are looking for a solution to the problems in the country such as unemployment and (if) we want the prosperity of the national economy, we have to return to that moral and outlook, an outlook which urges us into a political glory,” he said in a meeting with the family of Imam Khomeini in Khomein, Central province.

Mousavi also added, “He admired prideful nations. If we want to retain our independence, establish justice and liberty in the country, we should return to this great figure’s way.”

Karroubi will win second round election

Rasoul Montajabnia stated on Sunday that Karroubi will win presidency if the election goes to a second round.

National Confidence Party (NCP) deputy chief also said naming cabinet members by candidates is necessary because it familiarizes people with candidates’ views and their plans.

He added that in this way people can elect the candidates more “consciously”.

Talking to the Mehr News Agency, the cleric noted that if Karroubi wins the polls he will choose those principlists in his cabinet who can work with him and do not insist on their views.

He insisted that Karroubi has entered the fray seriously and will not withdraw candidacy.

Moderation and Development Party backs Mousavi

Mohammad-Baqer Nobakht stated on Sunday that Moderation and Development Party will support Mousavi in the June presidential election.

Talking in a press conference, the MDP secretary general said that Mousavi’s views on major national issues prompted the party to announce official support for Mousavi.

Mousavi’s cabinet would include ministers with different tastes

Abdollah Naseri stated on Sunday that Mousavi will not choose cabinet members from one particular faction and his likely cabinet will consist of different tastes.

The senior member of the Islamic Revolution Mojahedin Organization (IRMO) said that Mousavi contested the polls based on his own decision and he was right by saying that he is running as independent.

He told the MNA that the June presidential election will go to a second round and reformists will win the polls under any condition.

Mousavi’s rival will grab less than 40 percent of votes

Abdolvahed Mousavi-Lari stated on Sunday that Mir-Hossein Mousavi would win the campaign because his rival incumbent President Ahmadinejad would grab less than 40 percent of the votes.

Talking in Rasht, north of Iran, the former interior minister said that if Mousavi’s views are conveyed to the society as they really are and the candidate has the opportunity to elaborate on his views, he will garner more votes in the election.
