Iran’s non-oil exports to Americas triples in 4 years

TEHRAN, May 6 (MNA) – The deputy director of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran here on Wednesday said that Iran’s non-oil exports to the American Continent has been threefold in four years.

According to IRNA, Babak Afqahi put Iran’s non-oil exports to Americas in the calendar year of 1384 (2005) at $179 million, which increased to $577 million by the end of the calendar year of 1387 ( March 2009) showing a 3.2 times growth.


Signing trade MOUs with Uruguay and Venezuela and MOUs on preferential trade tariffs with Cuba and Venezuela, holding trade-industrial exhibitions, and exchanging delegations, played a great role in the promotion of trade and economic relations between Iran and the Americas, the official added.


He stated that pistachio and dried nuts, carpets, tractors and other agricultural machinery, cars and spare parts, construction material, handicrafts, and home appliances were the main Iranian-made export-bound products to the continent.
