Iran will continue to support Palestinian cause: Ahmadinejad

DAMASCUS, May 5 (MNA) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that Iran will continue to support the Palestinian cause and Israel has no place in the Middle East.

The Iranian president made the remarks in the Syrian capital Damascus on Tuesday.

Ahmadinejad arrived in the afternoon and went to the People’s Palace in Damascus, where he was given a red carpet welcome by President Bashar al-Assad followed by a closed-door meeting. It was his first visit to Syria since July 2007.

“There are no bright prospects for the Zionist regime… They know that all regional nations oppose them and they have no place in the region,” Ahmadinejad said in a press conference with al-Assad.

“No liberal human being will recognize the illegitimate Zionist regime,” he added.

Commenting on relations between Iran and Syria, he said, “Iran sees no limitations hindering the expansion of its ties with Syria.”

Asked about Iran’s support for the Palestinians, Ahmadinejad replied, “The path Iran has taken in support of the Palestinians is the right path, and we will continue on this path.”

“Iran will continue its support for the Palestinian nation and will make efforts to unite them.”
