No one has right to interfere in election campaigns: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, May 5 (MNA) – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad emphasized on Tuesday that no one has the right to interfere in the presidential election campaigns.

“No one has the right to interfere in the election or try to influence …peoples’ decisions,” he told the reporters on the sideline of the inauguration of the 22nd international book fair in Tehran.

“The candidates and their supporters have the right to conduct election campaign. In election, the purpose is to introduce the candidates… if an atmosphere of mudslinging, lying, and accusations is created… people’s rights are violated,” he stated.

The president added he has told his supporters that they are entitled to enter such discussions and they should only announce their plans and do not interfere in other candidates’ campaigns.

Ahmadinejad also advised the candidates not to overstate their plans and capabilities.
