Iran will help Britain grasp realities of region

THRNA, May 5 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Tuesday that Tehran is ready to help London wake up to the realities of the region.

Referring to the recent developments in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Mottaki said that Britain’s approach to face regional challenges has been based on some misconceptions and that Iran is willing to bring London back to realities.

Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with new British ambassador to Iran who submitted his credentials on Tuesday.

Mottaki also said Iran expects Britain to continue relations with Tehran in a way that serve the interests of both nations.

He said Tehran hopes that the new ambassador’s efforts to establish logical discourse between the two countries will help Britain to gain a real understanding of the current events in Iran.

Mottaki made a reference to his previous meetings with the British foreign minister, hoping that these meetings will open a new chapter in Iran-Britain relations.

The London envoy described Iran and Britain as two influential countries in the world and expressed hope that he, during his tenure, can prepare the grounds for further expansion of ties between the two countries.

He also pointed to an exhibit on the Safavid dynasty that is underway in London, saying that the exhibit symbolizes the culture and great civilization of Iran as well as different dimensions of Iranian prides.
