Mahram heading for FIBA Asian Championship

TEHRAN, MAY 5 (MNA) -- Iran’s Mahram basketball team will travel to Indonesia on Wednesday noon to take part in the 20th FIBA Asia Champions Cup.

Mahram will make their maiden appearance in this prestigious annual tournament held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from May 12 to 20, replacing Saba Battery (now Saba Mehr) as the representative of Iran.
Mahram earned the right to play in Jakarta after winning the West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) qualifiers in Amman in March.
Mahram has been drawn in Group A along with fellow WABA rivals and Lebanese giants Al Riyadi Beirut.
Group A:
Mahram (IRI), Al Riyadi Beirut (LBN), Sangmoo (KOR), Smart Gilas (PHI), Al Qadsia (KUW).
Group B: Al Arabi (QAT), Al Wasl (UAE), Zain (JOR), Young Cagers (IND), Satria Muda (INA).
Iran’s Saba Mehr won the two previous editions of the championship.
