Asian sports ministers meet in Tehran

TEHRAN, May 5 (MNA) -- The 2nd Asian Sports Ministers Meeting began on Tuesday here at the Esteghlal Hotel.

A number of delegations from different Asian sports bodies from 28 Asian countries are taking part in the three-day event.

“I hope that the meeting helps us expand sports ties across the Asian continent,” Iran’s head of Physical Education Organization Mohammad Aliabadi said in his opening remarks.
 
“We are determined to eradicate doping in sports. The meeting is also a good opportunity to make decisions and take measures to ensure better results in international sports competitions,” Aliabadi added.
 
The Asian sports ministers met the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad after the meeting.
 
The first edition of the Asian Sports Ministers Meeting was held in Osaka, Japan, on August 27, 2007.
