New building of Iranian Academy of Arts opens

TEHRAN, May 4 (MNA) -- The director of the Iranian Academy of Arts Mir-Hossein Mousavi deemed the new building of IAA a combination of Iranian art and architecture from different eras.

IAA’s new building opened with a ceremony at the venue on Sunday that was attended by a number of prominent Iranian academics and scholars.

Mousavi is the architect of the new building of Iranian Academy of Arts.

“The porch is reminder of old-style Iranian courtyards and the pillars are made in the style of Achaemenid architecture.  Excerpts of poems by Ferdowsi are carved into the top of them,” Mousavi mentioned during the ceremony.

“Although the driving factor in any organization is knowledgeable and skilled personnel, since form alone without substance is not effective. Nonetheless, the appearance of the edifice no doubt will seem attractive for those people passing by it on Vali-e Asr Avenue,” he added.

“Young people who are not familiar with Mousavi can learn more about him by viewing this edifice and also become familiar with his ideologies and beliefs,” the head of the Architecture and Urban-planning Encyclopedia said.

Seyyed Mohammad Beheshti went on to say that Mousavi’s contributions to Iran’s culture and history is featured in this place.

IAA’s new building is located on Vali-e Asr Ave. near Taleqani St.
