Mousavi urges administration to release list of expenditures

TEHRAN, May 3 (MNA) – Presidential hopeful Mir-Hossein Mousavi urged the administration to release the list of its expenditure mounting to over $270 billion.

“Our nation is entitled to know how this money has been expended. Was the government not able to spend a portion of this money to resolve the teachers’ problems?” he asked in a gathering of teachers.

 

Majlis minority faction still refuses to officially back a candidate

 

Ali-Akbar Olia stated on Sunday that Majlis minority faction has not yet officially decided to back either Mousvi or Karroubi. However, he said, most members support Mousavi or Karroubi.

 

The faction will name its candidate in the next two weeks, the reformist MP told the Mehr News Agency. He also noted that Karroubi will travel to Yazd province on Wednesday in his next provincial campaign tours.

 

New candidates will not change principlists’ decision

 

Alireza Zakani stated on Sunday that new principlist candidates will not influence the camp’s decision on backing President Ahmadinejad for reelection.

 

Followers of Islamic Revolution Society director said that no principlist group will revise its decision on backing Ahmadinejad.

 

In a meeting with the presence of different principlist groups, the groups promised to support Ahmadinejad in the race again, he told MNA.

 

 Reformists seek a “conscious” voting 

 

Former transport minister Ahmad Khorram stated late Saturday that reform camp’s approaches in the presidential election is to encourage people to vote “consciously” in order to elect the most qualified person.

 

Talking in the city of Sari, Mazandaran province, Khorram said that the national TV is not impartial and telecasts many programs promoting the incumbent president.

 

The former minister added that reformists are seeking to establish a committee to monitor the vote counting. He said Karroubi and Mousavi had recently said that they would establish a committee for the purpose but the Interior Ministry and Guardian Council announced that such a committee will be illegal.

 

The supervision of vote counting by a rival faction is not acceptable and is suspicious, he noted. He dispute the reason that supervisors are impartial, saying no person is impartial. 

 

Candidates can to use municipality’s facilities

 

Mohammad-Hadi Ayyazi stated on Sunday that all candidates can use municipality facilities in their campaigns if they pay for it.   

 

The Tehran Municipality spokesman said that the meeting rooms belonging to municipality can be used by all candidates during the campaign time. 

 

Rafsanjani urges observing ethics in election campaign

 

Expediency council chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani stated on Saturday that ethics should be observed in the presidential race.

 

He said that character assassination, lack of respect to ethics and smear campaigns are the “ugly signs” of election.

 

He added that those who adopt such approaches seek “unholy goals”.

 

Talking to Mousavi’s supporters, he noted that participation in the election is the national and religious duty of all people.
