Rezaii vows to form cabinet before elections

TEHRAN, May 3 (MNA) -- MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi says the fact that the United States is still using the carrot and stick approach toward Iran shows that its new administration cannot fulfill its promise of change.

“I have decided to announce important components of my administration before the tenth presidential election,” he told reporters in his first press conference after formally announcing his candidacy.

Rezaii also stated that he has been one of the critics of the current administration. He criticized the administration for its failure in improving the national economy despite abundant oil and gas incomes which he said reached over $340 billion over the last four years.

He also added he does not belong to principlist or reformist camps. Rather, he emphasized, he belongs to “the Islamic Revolution”.

On the prospect of Iran-U.S. relations, the presidential contender pointed out that he welcomes dialogue with Washington based on “national interests”.

Elsewhere, he stated that if he takes the office, he will reduce the military service on one year.

“I am thinking of turning the military service into a job for the youth… by reducing it to one year.”

Rezaii also noted that he will appoint President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as a minister if he wins the June polls.
