Iran plans to inaugurate 18 dams in calendar year

TEHRAN, May 3 (MNA) – Eighteen dams with a total streamflow adjustment capacity of 1.4 trillion cubic meters will come on stream by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2010), the Water Resources Management Company’s managing director said here on Sunday.

The Mehr New Agency quoted Sattar Mahmoudi as saying that the dams with a total basin capacity of 1.58 trillion cubic meters are under construction in West Azarbaijan, Fars, Zanjan, Khuzestan, Kordestan, Isfahan, Markazi, Tehran, Kerman, Mazandaran, and Kermanshah provinces.
