Iran Greco-Roman team wins Asian championship

PATTAYA, Thailand, May 3 (MNA) -- Iran claimed the title of the 2009 Asian Greco-Roman Championship on Sunday in Pattaya, Thailand.

Iran won four gold medals and one bronze bagging 60 points in the event, followed by Kazakhstan with 59 points, and South Korea with 41 points.

Farshad Alizadeh (74kg class), Taleb Nematpour (84kg) Amir Ali-Akbari (96kg), and Masoud Hashemzadeh (120kg) won golds while Saeid Abdevali claimed a bronze in the 66kg class.

The other members of Iran’s Greco-Roman team were Mohammad Faghiri (55kg) and Hamid Bavafa (60kg).
