Cruzeiro football team may play Iran

TEHRAN, May 2 (MNA) -- Cruzeiro football club president Zezé Perrella said on Saturday that the Brazilian team is interested in playing Iran’s national team.

"Iran is one of the Asian heavyweight teams and has so many talented players. This is a good opportunity to start relations with them,” said Perrella.

“I’ve seen Iran’s matches in the World Cup and think the country has good potential for progress. In my opinion Iran’s football can be better than this,” he added.

Cruzeiro is also likely to hold a preparatory camp in January 2010 in Iran or the United Arab Emirates, Perrella added. In case of holding the camp, Cruzeiro will play Iran in a warm-up game.

Brazilian Cruzeiro has won Copa Libertadores two times in 1976 and 1997.
