168 student couples tie the knot

TEHRAN, May 2 (MNA) - Marriage ceremonies for 168 student couples were held at Amir Kabir University on Thursday. It was the twelfth collective student marriage in Iran.

The students’ families also attended the ceremony.

“This year’s marriage ceremony at the university was held to promote the culture of facilitating marriage,” Javad Tabatabaii, an organizer of the event, told the Mehr News Agency.

He said the wedding ceremony only cost about 12,000 dollars.

Of the 179 couples who got married in similar ceremonies last year (March 2008- March 2009), 35% said they would not hold any other wedding party, he added.
