TEHRAN, July 27 (MNA) – Vice President for Executive Affairs Ali Saeedlou said on Sunday that the president will soon introduce candidates for interior and economy ministers to parliament for confidence vote.

Mahdi Hashemi and Hossein Samami have been acting as caretaker interior and economy ministers respectively.

The Majlis has expressed concerns over a delay by the president to name candidates for the two key ministries.

Top MP Mohammad-Reza Bahonar said the delay in naming candidates will definitely “have great expenses” for the country.

Legally, any ministry can be run by a caretaker minister for three months. The president failed to name minister of economic affair and finance until the final days.

Saeedlou told reporters after a cabinet meeting that immediately after the president decided to name candidate the Majlis announced a two-week summer recesses and the president asked the Supreme Leader’s authorization for the delay and the Leader agreed with it.

But in talks to reporters on Sunday Majlis Vice Speaker Mohammad-Hassan Torabi said even before the Majlis recess the legal time for naming economy minister had ended.

Torabi added it was expected that the president would announce the name of the economy minister on Sunday.

Moussa Qorbani of the Majlis Presiding Board also said on Sunday that the legal time for naming minister of economic affairs and finance has passed and the president should name the person immediately.

“We hope the president would abide by the constitution and introduce the proposed economy minister to Majlis soon,” Qorbani told reporters.

Meanwhile, Vice President for Parliamentary Affairs Mohammad-Reza Rahimi said that caretaker minister Hamid Behbahani will be introduced to parliament next week for a confidence vote but the persons for economy and interior ministers are not still clear.

“About the ministries of interior and economy no final decision has been taken yet and nobody except the president knows what is going to happen,” Rahimi told the Mehr News Agency on Sunday.

However, Rahimi said the candidates for the three ministries will be introduced to parliament simultaneously.

MP Parviz Sorouri of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee told the Mehr News Agency on Saturday that he has received reports that senior presidential advisor Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi will be named as interior minister.

However, after a cabinet meeting on Sunday Samareh Hashemi strongly dismissed the report.

Samareh Hashemi also rejected rumors that First Vice President Parviz Davoudi will be named as the economy minister and Energy Minister Parviz Fatah will instead take over as vice president.
