MASHHAD, July 26 (MNA) -- Iran’s largest car production line came on stream on Saturday at the Iran Khodro Khorassan plant, which is located on the Mashhad-Neishabur Road, about 55 kilometers from Mashhad.

Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad attended the opening ceremony.


The managing director of Iran Khodro Khorassan announced that 1.3 trillion rials (about $141.9 million) has been invested in the project to build the assembly line, which has the capacity to manufacture 45 automobiles per hour, IRIB reported.


Mohammad Mehdi Siadat added, “Now that the project has become operational, the (annual) car production capacity of Khorassan Razavi Province will grow to 100,000 cars by the end of the current (Iranian calendar) year (ends March 20), and more than 1000 job opportunities will be created.”


The Iran Khodro Khorassan Company sold 9.45 trillion rials (about $1.03 billion) of products during the previous Iranian calendar year. It is projected that it will sell 14.5 trillion rials ($1.58 billion) of products by the end of the current Iranian calendar year.
