TEHRAN, July 26 (MNA) -- One of the pioneers of Direct Cinema, Richard Leacock, will be the guest of honor at the 2nd Iran Cinéma Vérité Festival, which will be held from October 14 to 19 in Tehran.

He will also hold one-day workshop on his filmmaking methodology during the festival for the junior Iranian directors and filmmakers.

 

Being the grand old man of cinéma vérité, Richard Leacock was born in 1921 in London.

 

 

“Silk of Culture” focusing nomadic clothing

 

TEHRAN -- Iranian director Hossein Safari is making a documentary series focusing on nomadic clothing in Golestan Province in northeastern Iran.

 

Shooting of the documentary, entitled “The Silk of Culture,” has begun in Golestan, which is home to Turkmen, Baluchi, Afghan, and Armenian nomads.

 

 

Arian performs de Burgh’s “Peace” in Kish

 

TEHRAN -- Iranian pop band Arian performed “Peace,” a piece composed by Chris de Burgh, for the first time during their concerts from July 20 to 26 on Kish Island.

 

The band also performed some of their popular songs including “Don’t Say No,” “Flying,” “The Sunflower” and “The Marigold.”

 

 

Niavaran to host Prayer Art Festival

 

TEHRAN -- The first edition of the Prayer Art Festival will be held from July 29 to August 2 at Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center.

 

The festival is comprised of several sections including fine arts, music and theater, all focusing on the theme of worship and prayer.
