Iraqi Cultural Week kicks off in Tehran

TEHRAN, July 23 (MNA) -- Iraqi Cultural Week opened here in Tehran on Tuesday at Tehran’s Khavaran Cultural Center.

The director of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) Mehdi Mostafavi, Iraq’s deputy Culture Minister Jaber al-Jaberi and a delegation of 170 Iraqi scholars, writers and cultural dignitaries attended the opening ceremony.

 

The ceremony began with short addresses made by Mostfavi and al-Jaberi who later opened the visual arts exhibition and the book fair.

 

The event concluded with Iraqi Ambassador to Tehran Mohammed Majid al-Sheikh paying tribute to President Mahmud Ahmadinejad and the Iraqi band performing traditional Iraqi songs.

 

Also arranged during the weeklong event were the display of traditional costumes, film screenings, theater performances, and musical concerts.
