U.S. barbarity undermining legitimacy of intl. bodies: Larijani

TEHRAN, July 22 (MNA) -- Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani stated here on Monday that the United States’ human rights violations and biases toward various groups of people have undermined the legitimacy of international structures.

“The United States utilizes international community as a political tool for fulfilling its objectives,” Larijani said in a meeting with the Sudanese top official Ghazi Salah al-Din.

Larijani’s statement came after the Hague-based International Criminal Court accused Sudanese president of genocide and crimes against humanity in Darfur.

The speaker added, “The history will not forget the U.S. crimes in Guantanamo (Bay) and Abu Ghraib prisons.”

Calling Sudan “a friendly country”, Larijani pointed out that “Sudan is a nation with a refined civilization and intellectual thought and the expansion ties with it is of high importance for the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Ghazi Salah al-Din also congratulated Larijani for being elected parliament speaker and said, “Sudan sees Iran as its friend and brother and thinks of expanding the mutual ties in all fields.”

Pointing out that Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities belong to the Islamic world, Salah al-Din added, “Sudan sees the Islamic Republic of Iran’s success in achieving peaceful nuclear energy as Islamic world’s success… and strongly supports it.”
