Nazeri band tuning up for Kurdish music show in Greece

TEHRAN, July 21 (MNA) -- Iranian vocalist Shahram Nazeri and his band will perform Kurdish music at the Epidaurus Festival in Athens on July 25.

His band features Ali-Akbar Moradi and Kurosh Moradi on tanbur, and Pejman Hadadi on percussion.

 

The band will also perform a fusion of Kurdish and Greek music during the event. Greek musician Matthaios Tsahourides, who plays pontic lyra, will accompany them during this part of the show.

 

 

Iranian films to go on screen at Traverse City Festival

 

TEHRAN -- Hana Makhmalbaf’s “Buddha Collapsed Out of Shame” and “Head Wind” by Mohammad Rasoulof will be screened at the 4th annual Traverse City Film Festival.

 

The festival, which will be held from July 29 to August 3 in Traverse City, Michigan in the U.S., screens classic movies free of charge and offers panel discussions by members of the film industry.  Academy Award-winning filmmaker Michael Moore is one of its founders. 

 

 

“M.D.M.A.” awarded at Italian festival

 

TEHRAN -- The docudrama “M.D.M.A.” directed by Omid Bonakdar and Keyvan Alimohammady was awarded at the Roma Fiction Fest that was held from July 7 to 12 in Italy.

 

The film received special mention for its visual and linguistic innovations at the Factual Section (Documentaries and Docufiction) of the festival.

 

 

Motahhari’s “Perfect Man” published in Russia

 

TEHRAN -- The Russian version of Martyred Morteza Motahhari’s “Perfect Man” was recently published in Russian.

 

Published by the Institute of Oriental Studies in St. Petersburg, the book will be unveiled at the Moscow International Book Fair in September.

 

 

“Survey of Persian Art” translated into Persian

 

TEHRAN -- Sirus Parham claimed that the translation of the “Survey of Persian Art from Pre-Historic Times to the Present” by the American historian of Persian art, Arthur Upham Pope has been completed.

 

The book was translated into Persian by a group of translators headed by Sirus Parham. The original collection was in 16 volumes, which included two index volumes.

 

The final volume of the acclaimed collection appeared just prior to the outbreak of World War II in 1939.

 

The book will be published by Elmi-Farhangi Publications.
