TEHRAN, July 19 (MNA) -- Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Hossein Saffar Harandi sent a condolence message over the unfortunate demise of actor Khosro Shakibaii to his family, friends, and the general public on Saturday.

Iran’s cinema actor Shakibaii died of a heart attack Friday morning in a Tehran hospital. He was 64.


“Shakibaii was the foremost actor of Iran’s cinema following the Islamic Revolution. His sincere and meaningful roles will always remain in our memory,” reads part of the message.


“No doubt, the cinema of Iran is indebted to artists like Shakibaii. I wish to express my profound condolences to his family and ask God for his blessings,” adds the message.


In addition, Majlis Cultural Committee chairman Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel sent a message offering his condolences to Shakibaii’s family in which he called him an inspiring actor who achieved success.


“His untimely death saddened the family of Iran’s cinema and the people. Shakibaii, with his endearing roles, was known as a prominent actor for many years,” reads part of the message.


The funeral ceremony is due to begin at Vahdat Hall on the morning of July 20 and Shakibaii will be buried in the Artists Section of Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery.
