Tehran to hold 17th hand-woven carpet expo Aug. 22

TEHRAN, July 14 (MNA) – The director of Iran National Carpet Center here on Monday announced that the 17th Hand-woven Carpet Exhibition will be held from Aug. 22-28 in Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds.

Morteza Faraji said that 70 prominent tradesmen and renowned customers from 35 countries in America, Europe, and Asia will attend the fair.


On the fourth day of the fair the National Festival will be also held which will display the best carpet work of art, IRNA reported.


Annually five million square meters of hand-woven carpets are produced in Iran which is recognized as the world’s finest of its kind.


Iran supplies one third of the hand-woven carpets to the world market.


According to Faraji, the total amount of exported Iranian hand-woven carpets reached 750 million dollars in 2007 and the process of exporting Iranian hand-woven carpets is improving.


Iranian hand woven carpets are acknowledged internationally and always remain in high demand due to their exclusive designs and excellent craftsmanship.
