TEHRAN, July 13 (MNA) – President Mahmud Ahmadinejad here on Sunday appointed Ahmad Behbahani as the new caretaker of the Ministry of Roads and Transportation.

Ahmadinejad announced the appointment on the sidelines of the cabinet meeting and thanked the former minister Mohammad Rahmati for his efforts in this post.  

 

Behbahani, previously served as deputy for planning and economic affairs of the Ministry of Roads and Transportation and managing director of the Transportation and Traffic Organization of Iran.

 

Rahmati was the only minister from Mohammad Khatami’s administration who retained his post in the new cabinet.

 

Rahmati is the ninth minister to leave the ninth administration.

 

It has been reported that he resigned because he wants to retire from public service.
