Song and Nature Festival to gather Iranian regional bands

TEHRAN, July 13 (MNA) -- The first edition of the Song and Nature Festival will be held at Abr Forest near the Iranian eastern city Shahrud from July 30 to August 1.

Some 11 regional musical groups, native musicians, researchers and traditional dance ensembles will attend the festival, ceremony organizer Majid Ashuri told IRNA on Sunday.

Regional bands from several provinces including Gilan, Mazandaran, Bushehr, Kurdistan, Khorasan Razavi, Lorestan and Sistan-Baluchestan will perform pieces during the three-day gala, he added.

The festival aims to improve Iranian regional music and to introduce the ecotourism features of the jungle to visitors, he added.

Some 410 kilometers to the east of Tehran and at the junction with the Gorgan road, this stopover point is situated along the ancient Silk Road near the town of Shahrud.

Abr Forest is also known as the Cloud Forest because it has a constant mist all around the year although it is located less than 20 kilometers from the main desert land of Iran.
