Peykan to defend its championship in Asian volleyball tourney

TEHRAN, July 12 (MNA) --Iran’s Peykan volleyball team travels to Almaty, Kazakhstan on Sunday to participate in the 19th Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship 2008.

The Asian defending champions are scheduled to play the Chinese team on July 17. Peykan will also compete with the teams from the UAE and Kazakhstan in the following days.

The Iranian club will be headed by Mostafa Karkhaneh while Davud Ahangari and Yusef Nalbandi are his assistants.

The 19th Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship is slated for June 17-22.

Paykan was crowned the 2007 Asian Men's Club Volleyball Champion after defeating Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia 3-0.
