Tact necessary to handle nuclear issue: cleric

TEHRAN, July 7 (MNA) -- Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi suggested on Monday that the officials should exercise utmost tact in handling the nuclear issue.

In a meeting with some presidential advisers, he said, “The officials should exercise utmost tact in the nuclear program and avoid stirring up the enemies”.

Stressing Iran’s indisputable right to master nuclear knowledge, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi added, “We should not retreat before the West.”

He added even if Iran backed down from its position the West would seek other excuses.

Turning to economic problems, he said, “With the current state of affairs, the economic problems should be turned into opportunities”.

The ayatollah also said the government’s scientific achievements are “undeniable”.
