TEHRAN, July 7 (MNA) -- A selection of Iranian movies are being shown every Wednesday at Iran’s Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Interested Sri Lankan viewers watched Bahram Beizaii’s “The Passengers” last Wednesday, and Majid Majidi’s “Baran” will go on screen this week.

 

Majidi’s “Children of Heaven”, Abbas Kiarostami’s “The Wind Will Carry Us”, Hamid Jebelli’s “Son of Maryam” and Hassan Fat’hi’s “Marriage, Iranian Style” are other movies to go on screen during the month-long event.

 

 

Union for Short Filmmakers of Islamic Countries to hold meeting in Kabul

 

TEHRAN -- Iranian Naser Bakideh, the secretary of Union for Short Filmmakers of Islamic Countries (USFIC) is to hold a meeting with members in Kabul, Afghanistan.

 

The meeting is organized in the sideline section of the documentary and short film festival underway in Kabul from July 5 to 10.

 

Iran’s Young Cinema Society is also organizing a screenwriting workshop in the side section of the festival with the central theme of “The Role of Screenplays in Short Films”.

 

 

Tehran to host 3rd Police Film Festival in December

 

TEHRAN -- Iran’s third annual Police Film Festival will be held early December in Tehran.

 

Secretary of the festival Alireza Sajjadpur said that feature-length movies, short films, documentaries and TV series will be competing in the competition section of the festival.

 

He added that a special screening section is also planned for screenings from other cities across the country during the event.
