Venezuela’s Mestizo to give concerts in Tehran

TEHRAN, July 6 (MNA) -- The Venezuelan band Mestizo will perform concerts at Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center on July 8 and 9.

The band, led by singer Orlando Antonio Padilla, will perform Mestizo music -- a fusion of Spanish and American Indian music -- during the program.

Established in 2000, the Venezuelan band has previously performed in several countries. The band usually features revolutionary lyrics blended with fast rhythmic mestizo music.

Fernando Javier Contreras, Hidelbrando Arangu Santeliz, Juan Antonio Urdaneta, Victor Manuel Echeverria, Noel Padilla Fernandez are the other members of Mestizo.

The concerts have been arranged by the Venezuelan Embassy in Tehran to celebrate July 5, which marks the country’s national day.

Venezuela declared independence on 5 July 1811 under the leadership of Francisco de Miranda after a series of uprisings against the Spanish colonialists.
